31 Mar Crumbed fish fillets
Crumbed fried fish fillets are one of the easiest of fish starters that is sure you give you guranteed praises in your house events. An inspiration from the earthswhile fish and chips recipe, this one is a clear favorite globally as an universal fish starter .But while its a common feature across restaurants, have you every tried making them at home??I doubt, at least in Indian households. While at home its always the more of fish curries and masalas that we mostly adhere to.And I know not why, really , while on a fried fish recipe also this does not top the menu list albeit topping the the list of all fried recipes really.
Extremely easy in technique and preparation, it best suits basa fillets for their softness. Covered in fresh bread crumbs and egg wash, it gets a crispyouter edge and a soft centre inside, the flesh of teh basa fillests almost melting.
This actually is a take off from the fish and chips preparation. But of course the batter is absolutely different, but I guess it falls into the same category or style of cooking. While originally the fish and chips recipe is made with plain flour, water , soda bicarbonate, the crumbed fish recipe has breadcrumbs as the hero which gives a certain crispiness .
But I must say the strong motivation to try this at home stems from my every visit to Cafe Indigo http://foodindigo.com/, my neighborhood cafe. The crumbed fish they serve is absolutely delicious. And they have an option of serving you the fillets either in crumbed style or dipped and fried in flour..That’s two versions of “fish and chips” recipe on their menu. And that’s when I am nudged by my inner cooking skills to make this a part of my meal at home sometimes.
Absolutely easy on the go all you need is the fish fillets and breadcrumbs really ,with the egg..Goes down as quite a treat I must say. Easier still, they can be stored in the freezer to be fried ata time that you desire
